Low-Fi Design Ideas

Common Sketch Concepts
All sketches had Notifications, Prescriptions, and Appointments in the dashboard on main page.
Sketches showed that notifications and alarms should be attached to the smart watch platform in addition to phone.
Navigation should be clean and not overly cluttered.
All personal information should directly editable from the phone platform.
Custom settings are considered big plus, and vital to our diverse platform.
Users can get notifications regarding their prescriptions, including when they are available pick up and request refills.
Health and fitness goals can be integrated into app.
Being able to locate doctors and hospitals as well as schedule are integral.

Usability Testing & REsults
Overall, every participant was able to complete 100% of the tasks and stated they would like to either download or purchase the MedPal application. Users stated that medication reminders, scheduling, and messaging their doctors were their favorite features in the application. The main issues that occurred during testing were potentially caused by the laptop testing device for a mobile and smartwatch application, issues with drop down menus and text boxes, difficulty with certain calls to action, and the text size on both prototypes. Listed below are a few of solutions we included within our Axure prototype designs and some features that should be included within a fully developed mobile and smart watch application.
Drop Down Menus & Input Fields
We added an import medication page on the ‘my medications page’ that would import/upload your prescription information from your pharmacy. This would provide a simple way to add all previous medications in one simple step, rather than having to input all their medications individually.
The drop down menus and text boxes in both the add medication and schedule new appointment pages could include a ‘smart’ search/filter function that would provide suggestions based on what you type in or have typed in. This would help with potential spelling errors and inability to recall which medication or doctor you need to input.
Labels & Buttons
We could add two more buttons “30 Minutes” and “1 Hour” for the Snooze Notification on smartwatch prototype to provide users with more options.
We could add a “Respond” button on the message page for the smartwatch prototype that allows user to respond to doctor’s messages with a voice, or voice to text message.
We could also add a button within the app that allows the users to input/or speak a question that they have ( basic medical question or technical question regarding the application) , and the application will provide them with a direct answer or a suggested list of solutions based on list of “frequently asked questions,“ from the website database.
Recommendations for Future Product
We can add a GPS function to the application so that the location of the user is marked in case of emergency. However, this GPS feature can also be utilized to display the nearby recreational centers (Parks, workout facilities, or outdoor exercise trails) for suggested use. The GPS feature can also display medical clinics or pharmacies in the area, if the user happens to travel to a foreign destination, but is still in need of these essential amenities.
Whether through double tapping, or holding, a specific button within the application we should establish a “911” alert that notifies the emergency authorities of the user’s location in the case of a medical emergency. We must be sure to make this feature simple enough to utilize, while simultaneously making it “advanced” enough that user’s do not trigger it mistakenly. We could also trigger this feature through utilizing a vocal command such as “help” or “Call 911” within the application.
We could have a instructional video for users to watch when they first download the app that showcases the main features and required information to get the most beneficial experience.
